Michael has expertise in both financial planning and accounting: a diverse background and passion for small business; and flair for helping clients generate wealth. He was honoured to be elected to the prestigious full-time position of National President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 2010.
Michael grew up in Brisbane, where he spent much of his childhood outdoors and playing sports.
After school he joined the Royal Australian Navy, working for seven years in intelligence and electronic warfare, before exploring an interest in financial markets, accountancy, auditing, and eventually — financial planning.
In the late 1980s he met a Tasmanian girl, and married her. Shortly after, she dragged him south, where they live today with two teenage children.
Michael can often be found cooking, with a particular love of Asian dishes and experimenting with flavours.
Also a keen hiker, in 2009 Michael fulfilled a lifelong dream of walking the Kokoda Trail. “My grandfather fought in New Guinea and was killed in the war so there was a connection there for me.”
