Planning and allocating your marketing budget: business owners

Our customers and clients needs and wants are changing so quickly and so are the channels we can use to reach them. If you are managing your marketing budget, a mid financial year and start of the calendar year is a great time to check in on your budget and performance of each channel. 

Here is an example of how you may have allocated your marketing budget:

Owned Media

  • Website: 10% of budget
  • Email Marketing: 15% of budget
  • Social Media: 10% of budget

Earned Media

  • PR: 10% of budget
  • Influencer marketing: 10% of budget
  • User-generated content: 5% of budge

Paid Media

  • Search engine marketing or SEO: 15% of budget
  • Display Advertising: 10% of budget
  • Paid Social Media: 15% of budget

This is just one example, and the actual allocation of your budget will depend on your business goals, target audience and available resources. Regularly review and adjust your budget to ensure you are effectively reaching your target audience and achieving the results you have set as goals.
